Q: Can I order a custom size hearth pad?

A: Yes. We are happy to do custom sizes. Please keep in mind they can not exceed 60" in any one direction.

Q: How high are the pedestals?

A: Wood pedestals are 5" high and tile pedestals are 6".

How thick are the hearth pads?

A: Type 1 tile are 1" slates 1-1/8" to 1-1/4" and Type 2 tile are 1" slates 1-3/8" to 1-1/2".

Q: Will you build a hearth pad with my tile?

A: Absolutely, just know that shipping small amount of tile can be problematic if some or all of the tile is damaged. It also creates an issue when we ship the completed hearth out. Again, if it is damaged and we need to build another one, more tile will need to be shipped in to us.

Q: What is a modular hearth pad?

A: The modular hearth pad is assembled at time of installation. All necessary parts are included and the key to this is the tile is bonded to a steel backer panel and set tight together to eliminate the need to grout the hearth pad. This is a patent pending product that we introduced in 2014 at the HPBA Expo in Salt Lake City and received a Vesta award for this innovative idea. The modular hearth is available as a Type 1 without a frame (very good price point), as a Type 1 with a frame, and as a Type 2 with a frame. If the modular Type 1 is ordered without a frame, we have locking strips that hold the individual "Modular Panels" together.
