Type 1 (T1) - Hearth Pad (Ember Protection Only)

All wood, pellet, coal, corn and many gas stoves require a hearth protector. Most require only protection from falling embers. If this is the case with your stove, this is the correct hearth pad for your application.

Extruded Aluminum Frame

  • Available up to 54 x 48" only
  • Powder coated frames
  • Available in Original frame only (½" high x 3/8" wide)
  • Tubed aluminum for maximum strength
  • No overspray issues on grout, frames painted prior to tile/slate installation
  • ½" non-combustable cement board
  • 0-flame spread / 0-smoke development – per ASTM E84 and ASTM E136
  • Excellent bonding characteristics

Type 2 (T2) - Hearth Pad (Ember & Thermal Protection)

(“Ultimate Protection” R-Value 1.592)
For some of today’s high-efficiency stoves, along with older stoves and stoves that do not use heat shields, the hearth pad may be required to provide thermal protection as well as ember protection. If this is the case with your stove, then the Type 2 hearth pad is the correct hearth pad for your application.

Extruded Aluminum Frame (Original Edge or Colonial Edge)

  • Powder coated frames
  • Available in Original frame (1¼" high x ½" wide) or Colonial frame (1¼" high x ¾" wide)
  • Tubed aluminum for maximum strength
  • No overspray issues on grout, frames painted prior to tile/slate installation
  • ½" mineral fiber board (thermal protection)
  • ¼" non-combustible cement board
  • 0-flame spread / 0-smoke development – per ASTM E84 and ASTM E136
  • Excellent bonding characteristics
  • Does not rely on air pocket for thermal value
